Showband Memoribilia Exhibition

The Rainbow Ballroom is home to a one-of-a-kind showband memorabilia exhibition that offers a unique insight into the Ballroom and Showband history.

Here you can learn about the history of the ballroom and dancehall culture in Ireland past and present. Visitors can look for their favourite show band and country singers in our extensive poster, photograph and vinyl collections and Wall of Fame; take a spin on the iconic dance floor, and even get a photo taken on the famous Rainbow stage! There are beautiful posters and newspaper listings from the myriad performances that were once happening all over Leitrim on any given weekend.

Our collection is a real treasure trove for anyone interested in showband, country and dancing music in Ireland as well as vintage posters, records and stage costumes and midcentury radios and record-players, all of the showband era.

The Exhibition is open weekdays from 9am - 5pm and we offer walk-in tours of the Ballroom and Museum, where you can also enjoy a biscuit and cup of tea while you watch a documentary film on the Ballroom's storied history.

Tours: €6 per person, group bookings are always welcome.

As many of our friends and followers know, Gerry Finneran (1936 - 2023) was a champion of the parish of Glenfarne. He was a founding member of the Glenfarne Gala as well as a huge supporter of the Ballroom in all its activities. Gerry generously made his comprehensive collection of showband memorabilia available for our Showband Exhibition, which offers an invaluable insight into the history of the Ballroom as well as Glenfarne and its surrounding townlands. He was an Irish music and dance organiser as well as a great supporter of Leitrim GAA. Gerry will be fondly remembered as a dedicated advocate for the preservation and promotion of Irish culture and heritage in Glenfarne and beyond.
